The Bridge of the IKS Marvel. Dansville, Michigan
People are surprised to learn there are 8 starship simulators very similar to the 14 Space EdVentures simulators we have in Utah County outside of Utah. They are part of the Dream Flight Adventures Network created by Gary Gardiner.
Gary spent many hours of his teen years attending both overnight and summer space camps at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center in the 1990's. That's where he got "hooked" on experiential simulator based education. His goal was to create a similar program in Pennsylvania where he settled with his family. Today, Dream Flight Adventures has 8 simulators in two states, the District of Columbia, and one overseas simulator in Venezuela.
Recently the IKS Marvel was highlighted in a Michigan educators video. The teachers and administrators do an excellent job describing what we do with our simulators and I encourage everyone to take a minute and watch the video. Let's celebrate the work of our sister simulators and wish them the very best as we all work together to create a space faring civilization.
Plan a Visit: The IKS Marvel primarily flies missions for students at Dansville Elementary School, but it will welcome visitors from other schools, districts, and groups from its surrounding community. Please stay tuned to our blog for updates.
Launch Date: May 2019

Audrey Henriksen's Short Video Project on the Christa McAuliffe Space Center
I'm not one to draw attention to myself or to stand out in a crowd. I prefer the quiet life, spending time doing my favorite hobby - sitting quietly. It has been mentioned that I'm humble to a fault and I humbly agree. However.... there are times when one must step out beyond the cloistered walls of room 304 to promote causes dear to one's heart and recently that is what I did at the request of everyones favorite Blue Shirt, Audrey Henriksen.
Audrey was tasked by a professor to make a short video on a topic of her choosing. The Space Center was Audrey's topic which was no surprise to anyone. Audrey contacted me and asked if I'd be willing to step before the camera and be interviewed. Of course my first reaction was to politely decline but considering that everyone owes Audrey a favor, or two, or three I happily accepted the request.
The finished video is below. Audrey gave permission for it to be posted to The Troubadour for all to enjoy. Audrey - Job Well Done!

The Klingon Commander (Jensen Caldwell) with the Voyager's Captain working out Strategy on the Command Tactical Screen. The Voyager is one awesome ship! Summer Camp One 2018 Hello Space Fans! Farpoint at Renaissance Academy held its first summer space camp on June 25-27: a joint camp between Renaissance Academy and American Heritage School in American Fork. The camp was directed by Alex Debirk, Farpoint's summer camp director. I should also mentioned in passing that Alex is the high school physics teacher at American Heritage. He's one smart cookie. It shouldn't go without saying that Farpoint has a gifted and talented staff of flight directors and supervisors - many of whom have over ten years of space center experience. Rumors are that one of Farpoint's staff has 35 years of simulator experience - mind you, that is only a rumor. The Beta Squadron launching their bottle rockets on their science / simulator day at Renaissance Th...
The Magellan on Opening Day. August 31, 2023 The Christa McAuliffe Space Center opened for the 2023-2024 field trip season on August 31. All six simulators flew. Field trips are the life blood of the Space Center. They always have been. Field trips introduce students to the Space Center. That introduction paves the way for birthday party missions and summer space camps. The Cassini on Opening Day. August 31, 2023 The Galileo and Falcon on Opening Day. August 31, 2023 To the Space Center's staff and volunteers. Your work this school year will brighten hundreds of days for thousands of students. You will energize thousands of imaginations with thoughts of what could be. You will motive many to work harder in school. You will encourage others to rush home to their computers and begin writing stories of people accomplishing the impossible in the vastness of space. B...
Telos Academy Construction of Telos Academy's Farpoint Jumpship Hyperion is Underway in Vineyard The USS Voyager at Renaissance Academy will soon be joined by the USS Hyperion currently under construction at Telos Academy in Vineyard. Both simulators will operate within the Farpoint universe. The Hyperion is located on the second floor of the school's second campus located in Vineyard, Utah a mile or so south of the Megaplex Theater on Geneva Road. The Telos program is directed by Dr. Ryan Anderson. Read more about Telos Academy and Dr. Anderson's previous experience as a volunteer at the Christa McAluliffe Space Education Center in his teen years in a previous Troubadour post . Learn more about Telos Academy on the school's web site. The Hyperion's bridge layout resembles the original USS Voyager at the Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center which closed in August 2012. Recently I sto...
